The Go-Getter’s Guide to a Hawaii Honeymoon

The Go-Getter's Guide to a Hawaii Honeymoon

I have complete love and hate relationship with Hawaii.  On one hand, I love seeing the beautiful sights, gorgeous beaches, amazing people and great food.  Yet, on the other hand… .it’s like a puzzle you never finish.  It never fails that when I am on my flight back from Hawaii I always end up sitting next to someone who makes me feel my trip was a failure.  They always ask if I enjoyed my trip and then it happens! They asked if I went to see some attraction that I knew nothing about.  Trip busted!  Yet, hopefully, I can help avoid those pitfalls for you.  I will give you the information you need to have an amazing Hawaiian honeymoon.  Since Hawaii is so all-encompassing I am breaking this blog into three parts.  Part 1: Islands, Part 2: Resorts and Part 3: Sites & Activities.  So, let’s get started.

Hawaii is not just one island but many islands.  There are 6 Major Islands in Hawaii, but I will focus on the 3 major islands that most honeymooners travel to; Oahu, Maui and the Big Island.  The first thing to know is that Hawaii is considered a luxury destination so expect the average Hawaii honeymoon to cost around $5-7,000 dollars.  The cost can be even more depending on which type of resort you chose and the island you visit.

Most Popular Islands

Oahu

Oahu is the most well-known Hawaiian island.  It contains the state capital of Honolulu as well as Central Oahu, Leeward Coast, Northshore and Windward Coast.   The main heartbeat of Oahu is Honolulu.  This area has it all from luxury resorts, fine dining and some of the best shopping in the world.  When most honeymooners consider a Hawaii honeymoon, this is the area they gravitate toward.  Believe me, Oahu is worth the trip.

Maui

Maui, Hawaii
Maui, Hawaii

Maui is called The Valley Isle and is also the second largest Hawaiian island.  If you are a couple who dreams of a beach honeymoon, then this is the island for you.  This island has amazing beaches, whale watching, and breathtaking sunrises and sunsets.  Maui has five areas which are East, South, West, Central, and Upcountry.  Each area has unique terrain and landscape but all of it is beautiful.  If you are flying into Maui you will fly into Central Maui.

Big Island

Big Island, Hawaii
Big Island, Hawaii

The Big Island as it states is the largest of the Hawaiian islands.  It is so large that it has 12 climate zones on one island.  Talk about diversity!  This is one of my favorite parts of Hawaii because it has a little something for everyone.  It has the beaches, it has the plains, it has the mountains.  You name it you can find it in the Big Island. It is perfect for adventure couples because there is a vast array of hiking trails, climbs, and other activities. If you want your Hawaii honeymoon with adventure then the Big Island should certainly be on your list.

Next week I will talk about some great resorts in Hawaii,  so stay tuned!

I hope you will consider a romantic Hawaii honeymoon. If you have any questions don't hesitate to drop them in the comments below.
